Sunset Boulevard postponed to November.
On the verge of the first rehearsal, NOVA was given the opportunity to present a full production of Sunset Boulevard. “With these amazing voices and one more month, how could I turn it down?” says director Robert Brian Wood. “I’ve always wanted to do Sunset Boulevard in an intimate setting. Although the scale of the story and the music is huge, I’ve always been drawn to the fragile sense of humanity in the characters and believe that our theatre will be the perfect place to stage Sunset.”
The show revolves around an aging starlet, Norma Desmond, played by Susan Sommerfeld. Although her age is nearing sixty, Norma believes that she is a radiant twenty year old and deserves a staring role in a new movie directed by none other than Cecil B. DeMille, played by William Mouat. When a handsome young writer, played by JC McCann (Johnny Cash in the Ring of Fire) mysteriously arrives on her doorstep, she is hardpressed to send him away. In fact, she jumps on the opportunity to have him read her new script and moves him into the guest house.
What follows is an epic tale of romance, deceit and murder. If you love classic movies, epic romance or even detective novels this musical is for you. With sweeping symphonic music and soaring voices, Sunset Boulevard will surprise you.
