Cory Neal Schantz has been hailed by critics as a compelling performer. He was recognized as an “engaging presence on stage” following his professional operatic debut as Wagner in Gounod’s Faust with Baltimore Opera where he also performed the role of Guglielmo in Cosí Fan Tutte as a Baltimore Opera Studio Artist.

This production marks Mr. Schantz’s NOVA debut and company debut in 2014.

The spring of 2014 saw Mr. Schantz’s successful debut with Atlanta Opera, reprising the role of Wagner in Gounod’s Faust, followed immediately by his role debut as Fiorello in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, also with Atlanta Opera. Mr. Schantz appeared in Tulsa Opera’s stirring production of Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, a performance hailed by critics as the finest production by the company in a decade. Other roles include Pooh-Bah in The Mikado with Wichita Grand Opera, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly with Springfield Regional Opera, Marcello in Enid Symphony Orchestra’s concert version of La Bohème alongside Leona Mitchell’s Musetta, and lastly Germont in La Traviata with Winter Opera of St. Louis, a role he reprises here.

A sought after recitalist and interpreter of oratorio, he has appeared as Messiah soloist with the Enid Symphony Orchestra, the Billings Messiah Festival, the Cross Timbers Civic Chorale, Brazos Chamber Orchestra, and will make his debut this December with The Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra. 

Mr. Schantz is currently on the voice faculty at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.
