Well known and beloved artist, Jessica Zemsky, will be at NOVA Center for the Performing Arts to meet and greet her friends and patrons Sat. Sept. 8 @ 12-2 pm. NOVA will exhibit and offer for sale over 30 pieces of original artwork and selected framed prints from Sept. 6 to Oct. 20th.
Article from the Billings Gazette:
Jessica Zemsky has always been a lover of the arts, “all those delicious things that make life even better,” she said.
The 95-year old artist lives in Big Timber, but she grew up in New York, where she took in all the performances she could — music, art, ballet, Broadway plays, “anything where people were moving or thinking or showing what they thought life was about,” Zemsky described.
These days, though her mobility is limited, Zemsky is still supporting arts and theater with her artwork. On Saturday, Sept. 8 from noon – 2 p.m. NOVA Center for the Performing Arts will host an artist reception with Zemsky, whose works from her travels through Europe, as well as her Montana paintings, will be on display and for sale to benefit the theater.
More than 30 pieces of Zemsky’s artwork and framed prints will be available at the theater through Oct. 20. A portion of the proceeds will benefit NOVA’s productions, youth programs and classes.
Zemsky and late husband, Jack Hines, have been artists and residents of Big Timber for more than 40 years. The couple traveled the world to expand on arts and culture, painting along the way. “We were a good team,” Zemsky said. Though she misses her late husband fiercely, she continues working to inspire others with her enthusiasm for the arts.
“Life is good, and Montana is divine,” Zemsky said. “I am crazy about this living business. I make the most of it I can.”
