Acting Classes

 

Homeschool Acting: The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Odd Stories

(Grades 3-6) Wednesdays 2-3pm
Home school students will use the popular children’s book The Stinky Cheese Man to learn the basic elements of theatre. Through theatre games, imitation, expression, and gesture, they will develop language and communication skills and learn how to work both individually and in a group.
First class on Wednesday, September 10th @ 2 PM

Showcase for this class will be on Saturday, December 20th @ 10 AM

 

Creative Moves & Dramatics: Life’s a Circus!

(Grades K-3) Wednesdays 4-5pm
This combination class will give our youngest students the chance to explore their creativity and imagination. The will learn movement and basic theatre skills through the crazy world of circus clowns, ringmasters, animals, and acrobats under the big top.
First class on Wednesday, September 10th @ 4 PM
Showcase for this class will be on Saturday, December 20th @ 10 AM

 

Dramatic Intro: Dark Emperor and Other Poems of the Night 

(Grades 3-6) Wednesdays 4-5pm
Students will use the poetry of Joyce Sidman and illustrations of Rick Allen to gain essential acting skills. With the use of poetic imagery and expressive characters, students will learn to access their inner nocturnal animal and animate the stage.
First class on Wednesday, September 10th @ 4 PM
Showcase for this performance will be Saturday, September 10th @ 10 AM

 

Intermediate Actors: The Nightmare Before Christmas

(Grades 5-8) Wednesdays 5-6pm
Students who wish to further their acting skills will use Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas to help them transition into more prominent roles on stage and develop characters, both physically and emotionally. Through viewpoint and ensemble work they will learn to access  their impulses and observe the world through a theatrical eye.

 

Advanced Players: Romeo & Juliet and the Golden Age of Theatre

(Grades 7-12) Wednesdays 5-6pm
Using the play Romeo & Juliet, students will learn about Renaissance Theatre, how to analyze text, deepen their characters and cold read. They will also leave with polished resumé and classical audition monologues to prepare them for the professional world.
