Little Women Auditions @ NOVA Center for the Performing Arts
Oct 7 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

NOVA CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR
 LITTLE WOMEN

NOVA Center for the Performing Arts will hold auditions for Little Women on Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th from 3 to 5 pm at NOVA Center.

Roles are available for both men and women ages high school age and older. No preparations are needed for the audition.

Little Women, directed by Susan Hayes, will be performed Friday through Sunday, January 11-13 and January 18-20. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 and the Sunday matinee will be at 2. Ticket prices are $21 for adults, $16 for seniors and military, and $10 for students.

The story of Little Women, Louisa M. Alcott’s famous novel, is so well known and so well loved that it is hardly surprising that many attempts have been made to portray its characters upon the stage. None has yet been so successful, however, as this brilliant dramatization by Peter Clapham. The structure of the play faithfully covers that of the novel, interweaving the lives of the March girls Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy and Laurie, the boy next door, as they grow up happily together – yet the action is contained neatly in one set. All the overtones of gaiety and the undertones of sadness are here, bringing the story completely to life in a way which is both accurate and dramatically satisfying.

Sponsored by the Rimrock Opera Foundation:

Based on F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent vampire film–a classic of German Expressionist cinema–Dana Gioia’s Nosferatu creates a poetic version of the Dracula story in the form of an opera libretto. Written for the neoromantic composer Alva Henderson, the opera Nosferatu has been triumphantly showcased around the U.S. and in New York. Gioia’s thrilling version of the vampire myth brings forth the terror of Nosferatu, “the undead,” as seen through the eyes of the heroine, a gifted young woman trapped in a tragedy beyond her control.

Youth Opera Performed by Youth Actors in Grades 4-12

The Mikado (Sort of) is based on the Gilbert and Sullivan production of the same name. This re-imagining takes place in outer space. A year before the action of this opera begins, Nanki-Who, son of the potentate of Mars-apan, fled his father’s imperial court to escape marriage with Katisha, a robot. Nanki-Who met and fell in love with Hum-Hum. Hum-Hum, however, was already betrothed to her guardian, and Nanki-Who left ZuZu-Who in despair.
