Opera 101: Backstage at the Opera

Get more out of the upcoming opera, Nosferatu, a production of the Rimrock Opera Foundation and NOVA Center for the Performing Arts.  This eerie but beautiful production is based on the classic silent film by F. W. Murnau.  Opera 101: Backstage at the Opera will provide opera lovers and opera newcomers background information and a deeper opera experience.  Nosferatu will be staged at the Alberta Bair Theater on Saturday, October 27th at 7:30 pm.

Backstage at the Opera is an opportunity to explore Rimrock Opera Foundation and NOVA’s upcoming production Nosferatu.  Participants will learn about Composer Alva Henderson, Librettist Dana Gioia, the music, and attend a working rehearsal. The class will be three consecutive Sundays at 2pm – September 30, October 7, and October 14 at NOVA Center for the Performing Arts, 2317 Montana Ave., Billings

Rimrock Opera Company produced the world premiere of Nosferatu in October 2004. Classes will be led by Douglas Nagel, former Artistic Director of Rimrock Opera Company, current NOVA Board Vice President and Department Co-Chair and Associate Professor of Music MSU Billings.

Funky Bunch is NOVA’s high school improv troupe! These kids are sure to amaze and astonish with their quick wit and smart humor. Funky Bunch will perform the first Friday of every month beginning in September. Like Venture Improv, Funky Bunch styles their shows after Whose Line is it Anyway. These guys are just as funny as the adult troupe….just not nearly as old.
